Rotary Club of the Pelhams recognized five Pelham Memorial High School seniors—Connor Normoyle, Benjamin Koff, Georgia Gramshi, Megan McInerney and Chloe McGibbon— as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for May and June at the club’s May 22 meeting.
 
Presenting the students at his final meeting as a member of the Pelham Rotary Club was PMHS Prrincipal Mark Berkowitz, who himself was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow in a surprise ceremony at the meeting. Mr. Berkowitz has resigned as PMHS principal and will be pursuing other opportunities.
 
The five Scholars of the Month:
 
Connor Normoyle—a member of the Math, English, Social Studies and Science honor societies and a French exam honoree. His extracurricular activities have included Chess Club, Pelham Civic Engagement Club, Mental Health Awareness Club and Senior Pen Pals Club. He participated in soccer, tennis and basketball. He also was active in City Island Oyster Reef, a non profit, as a researcher. He plans to study environmental science in college.
 
Benjamin Koff—a member of the National Honor Society as well as  the English, Social Studies, Math and Science honor societies. He was a national Italian exam and National Spanish exam honoree. His extracurricular activities have included Science Olympiad, The Pelham Mel newspaper, Debate Club, Stock Market Club, Chess Club and Military History Club. He participated in varsity tennis. He plans to attend Vanderbilt in the fall and study physics.
 
Georgia Gramshi—a member of the National Honor Society as well as the French Honor Society and winner of a bronze medal in the national French exam. Her extracurricular activities have included Breast Cancer Awareness Club, Animal Welfare Club, Chemistry Club, Women’s Empowerment Club and French Club. She has played softball and volleyball. She plans to attend Baruch and study finance in the fall.
 
Megan McInerney—a member of the National Honor Society and completed 8 Advanced Placement courses and 9 Honors courses. She is also a member of the Math, Science, Social Studies and English honor societies and won first place for her researching anxiety and depression at the Somers Science Competition. Her extracurricular activities have included the Mental Health and Awareness Club, peer leadership mentoring and Operation Smile.Her summer work has been as a research intern at Galileo Health. She plans to attend Georgetown University.
 
Chloe McGibbon—a member of the National Honor Society as well as the English, Social Studies and Math honor societies. Her Advanced Placement courses included World (5), Studio Art, English Language, Physics 1 and U.S. History. Her extracurricular activities have included the Art Club, Asian Culture Club, piano and swimming. Her community service included painting and contributing the painting of Josephine Baker for the Juneteenth celebration.
 
The Rotary Club of the Pelhams honors PMHS Scholars of the Month during the school year and this week is presenting a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior. Funding for the scholarship is donated by members of the club and the community. Donations may be made at pelhamrotary.com, which also has information about the club.
