Pelham Memorial High School seniors Aadita Roy and Annika Halvorson were recognized as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for December by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams.
 
Aadita Roy has worked on notable science research projects since 8th Grade. Her 12th Grade project paper is pending publication and concerns  modeling microphage mediated pancreatic endocrine cell damage. Her coursework has included AP Statistics, Science Research, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1 and 2, AP Biology and college Spanish. During the past summer she attended classes on neuroscience. Her extracurricular activities have included Model UN, Forensic Speech Team, Medical Career Club, Olympiad Team, PMHS Orchestra, piano, JV and Varsity Softball.
 
Annika Halvorson, who is treasurer of the PMHS Interact Club, an affiliate of Pelham Rotary, is a high honor roll member and served as a senator in the Student Association. She was chosen for the national Student Voice Journalism Fellowship and plays Varsity Volleyball. In addition to Interact Club, her extracurricular activities include Chemistry Club President, World Aid Co-Vice President, French Club and Animal Welfare Club. She and a fellow student also raise funds for a school in Tanzania. She also is tutoring a Ukrainian student in English.
 
In addition to recognizing Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary Club of the Pelhams awards a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior annually. Applications for the scholarship will be available through the Guidance Department in the spring.
