Pelham Memorial High School seniors Padraig Pearlman and Laura Shelton were recognized as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for January by Rotary Club of the Pelhams.
 
Padraig Pearlman, a Latin scholar and National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science, English and Social Studies honor societies. He completed Advanced Placement courses in European History, English Literature, Physics, Calculus BC, Psychology, U.S. History, Art History, Statistics, World History, and Computer Science Principles. He is the captain of the Varsity cross country team. His extracurricular activities have included the Pelham Mel student newspaper, Latin Club, Creative Writing Club. This past summer he attended the Creative Writing Master Class in Fiction at Columbia.
 
Laura Shelton, Vice President of the Student Associationis a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science, English, World Language and Social Studies honor societies. She completed Advanced Placement courses in World History, Physics 1 & 2, Art History, U.S. History, English Language, Calculus BC, English Literature and Composition and U.S. Government and Politics. Her athletic achievements have been in soccer and track and field. Her extracurricular activities have included the Pelham Examiner student newspaper online, President of the Women’s Empowerment Club, Vice President of the Students for Refugees Club as well as the Do Something Club and Ocean Conservation Club.
 
In addition to recognizing PMHS Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary awards a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior in June. Applications for the scholarship will be available through the PMHS Guidance Department in the spring.
