Rotary Club of The Pelhams concluded its 75th Anniversary Year with the donation of a park bench in Town Park near The Pelham Gazebo.

“This donation was most appropriate because back in 1994 the Rotary Cub donated the Pelham Gazebo to the Town of Pelham following a town-wide fundraising campaign to raise funds for its construction,” said Maggie Klein, co-chair of the Rotary 75th Anniversary Committee.

The new bench is located near Fifth Avenue, backing on Michael Schwerner Way. It has a plaque that reads “Rotary Club of the Pelhams 75th Anniversary 1947-2022.”

To celebrate its 75th Anniversary Year, the Rotary Club earlier sponsored a free environmental movie at The Picture House in April on the eve of Earth Day, held a Rotary Day reception at Pelham Art Center in May, and held the wine and food tastings fundraiser in October that honored past Rotary presidents, past Rotary Scholarship winners and Pelham families who have hosted foreign children for heart surgery through the Gift of Life program.

The local Rotary Club will award a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating Pelham Memorial High School graduate in June. Applications will be available through the PMHS Guidance Department.

Rotary Club members meet weekly at 12:15pm at Rockwells and invite anyone interested in joining the service club to attend. For more information, contact Membership Chairman Anne Kossowan at akossowan@aol.com or just show up at the meeting. For more information on the club visit pelhamrotary.com.
