Rotary Club of the Pelhams recognized Pelham Memorial High School seniors Ted Johnson and Maria Kate Boldyrev as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for April at a recent luncheon meeting.
 
Ted Johnson is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science,, English, Social Studies, and World Language honor societies. He achieved All League honors in football and is captain of the Varsity Lacrosse team. He has served as a Point O'Woods volunteer firefighter and sports camp volunteer. He plans to attend Dartmouth in the fall. 
 
Maria Kate Boldyrev is author and illustrator of A New Yorkie Christmas Book (sold on Amazon & Barnes and Noble). She is a student researcher at Lehman College where she is studying protein-ligand interactions of mutations found in HSD10 enzyme. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science,, English, Social Studies, and Spanish honor societies. She founded the PMHS Red Cross Club, leading Ukraine relief and other projects. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
 
In addition to honoring Scholars of the Month during the school year, the local Rotary Club will award a $15,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS student in June.
